Cleaning House Clutter
A cluttered home is not a happy home. Yet, it’s easy to let clutter get out of control. How do you reclaim your home when the clutter monster has it in its clutches? Well, to begin with, categorize your clutter. Do one thing at a time.
Begin with paper products. Collect all of the newspapers, magazines and books that are lying around and put them in piles. Then, sort those piles according to what you plan to get rid of (either by throwing out or donating) and what you plan to keep.
Next, deal with all of the coats, shoes and other clothing strewn throughout the house. Make one pile for clean clothes and one for dirty. Immediately move the dirty clothes to the laundry room and start a load. Then, while that’s going, deal with sorting the clean. Again, decide what to keep and what to get rid of, putting all of the keepers away right away.
Next, deal with dirty dishes. They should go into the sink or dishwasher immediately. If they’re going into the sink, make sure to take the time to wash them right then and there. That way, you won’t be tempted to put it off for a later time that never comes.
Granted, that’s only a start. However, most cluttered homes get that way because of one or more of those three things. Once you take care of all three of those, you should find it easy to deal with the rest. Just remember to categorize your clutter and deal with one thing at a time and you’ll reclaim your home in no time at all.
