Basing the theme upon pictures on the wall is an OK idea, although the walls are support for the decorations more than the focal point. Shadow boxes and picture frames are certainly not as difficult to replace, so a lot of people base the theme off the furniture. Keeping a similar idea throughout the house is sensible even when using different themes in each room.
The second form of decorator is someone who buys items because the item itself is captivating. Usually these people purchase based on something like pets or animals, which have no specific color or style theme to match when redecorating. When these types of decorators redecorate, it can work much better if each room is themed differently to keep the exact same items. Too many mismatched items inside a room can be too busy for an individual’s eye. In order to prevent that, items with the same color scheme can be placed in separate rooms focused on that color. Since the assortment does not appear to be random things placed everywhere, individuals who enter each room will feel more at ease. If flag cases were picked as the centerpiece of the room, then other items would need to stick to the red, white or blue color theme.
Although rearranging and acquiring new items is a hassle, preparing first with some ideas makes the process easier. Themes lose meaning when items are bought little by little over a long period of time and added to a room.
